Our Commitment

Long Island Flooring Co. aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at the AA conformance level. This is the standard most US federal guidance points to for commercial websites. We do not claim full conformance — we claim that we try, measure, fix, and disclose honestly.

What We Have Built In

  • Semantic HTML. Headings are real headings, buttons are real buttons, links are real links. Screen readers can parse the page structure.
  • Color contrast. Body text is at least 4.5:1 against its background. Headings and links are tested against WCAG AA.
  • Keyboard navigation. Every interactive element can be reached with Tab. The focus ring is visible (not removed by CSS).
  • Alt text. Every photo has descriptive alt text. Decorative images are marked aria-hidden.
  • Reduced motion. Animations respect the prefers-reduced-motion setting.
  • Large tap targets. Buttons and links are at least 44 pixels tall on mobile.

Known Issues (Being Fixed)

Honesty clause:

  • The estimator slider has a known focus-trap issue on one screen reader (NVDA on Firefox). We are rewriting it.
  • Some portfolio images do not yet have extended descriptions for users who want room-level context.
  • The phone number in the header is an image in one old blog post. Being replaced with semantic text.

Third-Party Content

Embedded Google Maps, embedded YouTube videos, and third-party widgets may not meet the same accessibility standard as our own code. We minimize use of these and replace them with accessible alternatives wherever we can.
