Is LVP really as good as hardwood?

Not quite — real hardwood adds more resale value and can be refinished multiple times. But LVP wins on waterproofing, scratch resistance, and cost. For kitchens, basements, and homes with pets, LVP is often the better choice.

Will LVP fade in sunlight?

COREtec and Shaw LVPs have UV-stable wear layers and resist fading. Cheap big-box LVP will fade within 2-3 years in a south-facing sunroom. We don't install that tier.

Can I install LVP over existing hardwood or tile?

Yes, if the surface is flat, dry, and sound. LVP is only 6-8 mm thick and needs minimal subfloor prep. Saves you the tear-out cost, but your finish floor height will rise.

Does LVP work in a basement?

Yes — it's the #1 basement flooring on Long Island. Waterproof, flexible, comfortable underfoot. We install a 2mm thermal underlayment for warmth and vapor control over concrete slabs.

Waterproof, every plank

LVP is 100% waterproof — not water-resistant. Spill a glass of red wine, mop the kitchen, ignore a dishwasher leak for a week: the floor is unaffected. This alone is why LVP is winning kitchens across Long Island.

Scratch-proof commercial-grade wear layers

Our standard COREtec wear layer is 20 mil — double what big-box stores sell as "premium." Dog nails, dragged furniture, hardcore playroom traffic: no visible wear.

Click-lock floating install

LVP floats — no nails, no glue to the subfloor. Installs fast (typical 1,200 sqft is 2 days vs 4 for hardwood), goes over most existing floors with 1/8" mat underlayment.

How we do it.

Moisture test & subfloor prep
LVP requires a flat, dry subfloor. We fix dips with self-leveling compound and moisture-test concrete before install.

Acclimation (48 hours)
LVP needs 48 hours on site before install — faster than hardwood's 5 days but still required for thermal stability.

Click-lock floating install
Planks click together with a locking edge. Spacer expansion gaps at every wall (1/4"). We run planks in the long direction of the room unless you prefer otherwise.
4
Trim & quarter-round
Painted or stained quarter-round shoe to cover the expansion gap at baseboards. T-moldings at doorways into rooms with other floor types.
